Cinnamon Sugared Candied Pecans

August 5, 2014 by Kelly

Cinnamon Sugared Candied Pecans - vixenskitchen.comCinnamon Sugared Candied Pecans! Candied pecans are such a fabulous way to rev up a simple dish. I love them during the Fall and Winter months just to snack on…. but I really love them on my salads year round! I have been craving a simple wedge salad with candied nuts so I decided to make cinnamon sugared candied pecans in August just to satisfy my craving 🙂 After I made these, I decided to add them into my Banana Muffins…. and oh my goodness they were the best muffins ever. Don’t be scared to add them to whatever suits your fancy. I’d love to hear about any adventurous recipes in the comments!!! 🙂

Serves: 16
Ingredients
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1½ tbs. water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups pecan halves
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  2. I a small bowl, beat the egg whites, water and vanilla with an electric beater until soft peaks form.
  3. Mix in the pecan halves and stir well with a rubber spatula. Make sure they are completely covered. You want them wet. Set aside.
  4. Combine the sugar, cinnamon and salt in a gallon sized ziplock bag. With a slotted spoon, spoon in the pecan halves, seal the bag and shake it like you mean it 🙂 Make sure the pecans are completely covered in sugar.
  5. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a baking slip mat. (slip mats are so fabulous!!)
  6. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 10 minutes so the nuts don't burn and cook evenly. Cool completely.
Notes
You can make this recipe with any nuts you like! Also… if you want a "lighter" flavor, just omit the cinnamon 🙂 You could even add in some orange juice and zest as a replacement. YUM.
